Break

Many things that the ability to break. You can break a mirror, a lamp, a desk, a twig, even an arm or a leg. There's only one thing that I can think of that you or someone else has the ability to break, but never really know because it is unseen. A heart. Whether a boyfriend, husband, mom, dad, sibling or friend breaks your heart they'll never really know unless you express it to them. No one can see inside a person to see the emotion that comes from a broken heart. We may become physically broken and our heart remains physically whole, but emotionally speaking we have the ability to break hearts and be heartbroken.
Breaking someone's heart is rough. It can be an accident or intentional. I like to think that all broken hearts are caused by accident. They can be the result of a friend you no longer see, home/family issues, or it can even be the result of going on a mission trip and witnessing TRUE heartbreak and poverty first hand.
It makes me wonder if a broken heart is good or bad. In a way, a broken heart makes us stronger, teaches us valuable life lessons, and shows us what really matters to us. Leaving a part of my heart in Africa is a positive effect of being brokenhearted. A BIG piece of my heart was broken off and was given to restore the heart of an orphan, widow, or someone of the street who just needed some love. But then what happens if you give a piece of your heart to the wrong "one". Will they always have that piece? How do you go about restoring and making your own heart whole again? Only God has the ability to do that. He washes away past hurts, scars; any little piece of our heart that is missing, God can fill up and cause a broken heart to be whole again.
God needs to be our WHOLE heart, so that when we give our heart to someone, whether it be the whole thing or just a piece, they are getting God. From my heart to theirs, God is being received. God is love, and that's basically all we can give in the world. Love to a baby, a mom, a dad, a husband, a friend. What more do we have to give if nothing is ours? Our heart has to completely break for God and to God before we can break for others.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." -Proverbs 3:5-6
