When something "clasp" it latches onto something else causing closure. There are clasp on bracelets, jackets, shirts, and dresses. But are there any clasps in our lives? We can clasp onto another person and never let them go; they become part of us and together joined as one. We can clasp to our faith, hold it tight and never let it go. God clasps onto our hearts, latching on closing past hurts and regrets, shames and missed opportunities.
On a clasp one end has to give way to tear the two joint apart. With a spiritual clasp, the only breakage that will occur is if we pull away from God. God never leaves or forsakes us. We are the ones who fall short. We can become distracted by many things of the world. We hold a pocket full of distractions these days: facebook, some friends, guys, and just everyday life. We have to learn to edify our links of our life bracelet. Think of your life like a bracelet, many links together but only two clasps. Those links are God and you. What makes up your links? God should be in every one of those links. Say school is a link; you should be sold out for God at your school. Facebook is a link on all of our bracelets these days. We should be using facebook to reach a whole new network of people for God. Whatever your links on your "bracelet" are use them for God. Then the clasp can be closed and you and God are side by side on the bracelet causing God to be distributed throughout all of the links.
Being clasped is being together, forming one piece. It's the missing link to keeping the jacket closed, the shirt on and a dress in place. We need to be one (clasped) with God so that we can be closed to Him, on to Him, and in place with Him. Holding tight and clasping onto the new life He has given us.
“Servants, do what you're told by your earthly masters. And don't just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you'll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you're serving is Christ." -Colossians 3:23-24
